Middle School - competing for funds

16 years 11 months ago #135268 by Merkat
This will be my first year with a child in Middle School. For the past 2 years I was President of our Elementary PTO. Our current Middle School PTO does sales and car washes and dances and so forth to raise $ - well, so does the Band Booster Club, Cheerleaders, Sports Booster, etc. I had an idea to use the PTO as an umbrella for these other groups - consolidate fundraising and distribute funds to the other groups based on need (budget). We reduced the number of fundraisers at the Elementary level to two big ones a year - a fun run and an Auction/Dinner and our budget went from $15,000 to $60,000. If we could accomplish that at the Middle School level then there should be enough $ for all those other groups.

My question is: How do other Middle School's handle this? and
What fundraisers work best with this age group?

I really value your feedback - thanks!
