Fundraising with Books

16 years 11 months ago #134707 by sharilee10
We are partnering with a local Bookwise Book Store to allow parents to purchase books throughout the year with a percentage of the cost going back into the PTA for our Annual Literacy Festival held in the Spring. The local Literacy Coalition had planned to scrap the festival due to funding issues, so we are trying to help keep it alive. We figured that selling books was a good way to raise money to promote literacy-- kill two birds with one stone!

We are also combining it with our membership drive-- each PTA membership can order their first book at 30% off, so they have an extra motivation to join the PTA. (You can see what other perks we have secured for our membership drive on a Council level at Logan Council Membership Perks . We plan to add more perks-- we're just getting started.)

We are doing the Literacy Festival fundraiser on a county-wide basis since the Literacy Festival is county-wide, but it could be done on an individual school basis. Bookwise is an on-line bookstore so you could work with the same book store to set it up for your school. Shipping is only .99 if more than 3 books are ordered, so it's a deal for everyone involved. Families can have the books shipped directly to them or you can have all go to the school and let parents pick them up. I can get the information on who we are working with if you want to email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or you can email the Literacy Festival team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. They can answer any questions about how it is set-up as well.
