Great idea!
I think you need to have a letter in hand, and I would go to the nuseries and ask them to donate in person. It is much easier to ignore a letter and toss it than it is to have a very personable conversation with a business.
I would not offer to pay anything until they decline flat out donation, maybe you donate 1/2 we buy 1/2, let them know yo uill be talking to other nuseries about the plant sale. maybe a trade of advertising with a banner on the table if that is an option to get free plants. If you take plants at a price, you essentally make less for the same amount of work, and then i would offer to pay and work out a deal on pricing.
Hey all you brilliant minded fundraisers! I need a little help. I have been given a great idea for a fundraiser, a plant sale as in selling flats of plants, flowers and hanging baskets for the garden. (that time of year is coming!!!) I was given some great advice about contacting local nurseries etc. to supply us and seeing if they will do this with us for cost or just slightly above cost.
So heres my question, how would I approach them, would it be via a letter or in person....I never done anything like this before, I am a true novice at this kind of fundraiser, but I think it would be so successful.
Any ideas, samples or past experience with this would be so very appreciated.
THANK YOU!
