Auction Program

With Access, are you able to enter it once and have it then create the bid sheets and the auction catalog?

Answer:
Yes, this is absolutely possible. I only enter data once and create all reports and querys from it.

That is what I really really want! I spent way too much time this past 2 weeks up too late typing stuff in that had already been typed before.

Answer:
You should not be doing this! Just import into other programs. Use the tool in the file dropdown.

And we do our bid sheets by hand since we don't have a program to print them up (a previous coordinator ordered carbonless triplicate forms that are nice, but some of the stuff on them we don't bother with).

Answer:
Oh goodness no, that's old school. Bid sheets should be done via mail merge in word from excell file or in access as reports. Both are easily accomplished.

I use excel and word. I enter the lists in excel and then use the merge features of word to print out bid sheets, summary donation sheets, printing nice thank-you cards, etc.

Also, excel allows me to view percentages, etc. after entering sold_for price.

Excel and word require some basic knowledge of merge files. Access, to me, requires an additional level of skills. (Though I am also comfortable with access.) I do mine in Excel because it is easy to pass along data for others to share.

I'm totally looking for some kind of easier way to do it next year, but would rather not pay $$$ to get a program. My frustration with all the software out there is that none of them seem to show you what their prices are up front. I hate that when I'm shopping.

I do all that stuff in Access. I never found a program that would work for it but truthfully, I never looked. I created my own.

Ticket sales, distribution, database for ticket labels, value of donations, who donated what, lists and catagories for all prizes, cash reciepts, family donations, database for thank you note mail merge, mass mailing of initial solicitation list... you get the idea. I think it could be tweeked to suit the needs of a live auction as well. Doesn't do IRS tax stuff but could certainly compute sales tax on winning bids.

LOL... no, I mean an auction program that you enter your items, rsvp's, cash donation, makes packages, does the tax stuff, sit at the computer night of auction and enter winning bids to sell auction, recipts. all of the data is kept in one program that process it for you and spits out all of the data in one fom or another.

The tool kit is helpful, but not what I am asking about.
