Just a quick -- but I think important -- point: the "just by doing nothing" in your message is kind of negated by the "whole page in our newsletter."
It's why I think it's important for groups to measure these programs based on return. Because they're not free. Not only is it the "whole page in the newsletter" (and the work and $$ associated with that)....
...but it's also the "attention inventory" you spend on these programs. 'Attention Inventory'??? What i mean is that your average parents only will pay attention to so many messages from your group. By promoting these programs broadly, you're using a good chunk of your scarce attention inventory. Might be right (depending on your school), but it's not free.
We devoted a whole page in our newletter of all the websites that we make money from just by doing nothing. I also listed either how much we made or will make if any purchases are made. It's a great way to remind parents that these site are out there.
We got our $100 check. Haven't heard anything else from them. How do you plan on re-sending the info to parents as a reminder that the program is going on? I know no one saved that thing with the school code on it. Would like to get another flyer out as a reminder.
We signed up for the Direct TV fundraiser (school gets $100 for every customer from school who signs up) we sent home their lengthy literature with all 500 students. The school is supposed to receive a $100 advance and then of course you have to wait a set amount of time to get the other credits to make sure people did not just sign up to get the credit for school. They supposedly sent the check in October. The principal never received the check and I can get through to no one to answer any questions for me. Has any one had success with this program or did we give them free advertising for nothing?
