Watch Out for CKA Associates (Kash For Kids) Recycle/Fundraising Program!!!

17 years 6 months ago #126512 by PSI
I have been in the printer supply manufacturing industry for nearly 20 years and collect lots of empty cartridges as we remanufacture inkjet and laser jet cartridges for our customers. We do some fundraising recycle programs for some of our customers (schools, churches, non-profits, etc), and sell off some of those empty inkjet and laser jet cartridges to a variety of places, other manufacturer's as well as what we in the industry call empty cartridge brokers (people who sell the empty cartridges to manufacturing companies for 2X-10X what they are willing to pay you for them).

We recently sent about 350 HP Brand Laser Jet Cartridges that we collected from some churches in the Little Rock area. We sold very specific cartridges to CKA Associates (aka; Kash for Kids, Recycleaid, Cash for Kritters) since they were accepting these older cartridges that most manufacturer's like us don't really want or need but accept anyway incase we can sell them to some else so we could donate the money that we could get for these cartridges to the churches that we collected them from.

Upon receipt of the product, we were told that 85%+ off the shipment was damaged. We told them on Friday at 3:30pm that we would fly down to Arizona to look at the cartridges to see if they were really damaged or not, as well as identify each individual cartridge as we make markings on every cartridge with a special black light pen.

Obviously we have run into some of these scammers before. This happens regularly as most of these companies practice what we call the "Buy One, Get One Free" program. For every cartridge that you send to some of these companies, they claim that another is defective. It allows them to claim that they pay more for each cartridge, where they are really paying half that amount because 1 in 2 is supposedly defective.

Some time between 3:30pm on Friday and Monday afternoon, they have disposed of the damaged cartridges so they are no longer available for us to view. They refuse to pay us for the cartridges and no claim can be made on the shipment because even though they scheduled the trucking company and paid for it on their account, they did not purchase shipping insurance.

Needless to say, we will receive a check for around $100.00 rather than close to the nearly $1000.00 that it should have been.

This company has a link to the PTO Today website on their website. Just thought that you should know what type of company that they are. This is coming from a company that has been in the printer supply industry longer than their company has even been around. If you are using them, you might just want to take a look at your reports of how many cartridges you are sending versus how many are defective. If they don't tell you, you should ask them to give you a detailed break down. If you are considering using them, do your organization a favor...and don't. There are many options out there of who to send your cartridges to. Your best option is to find a local manufacturer, like a Cartridge World, in your area that will come pick the cartridges up every month and pay you for them.

Sincerely,

PSI
