Knita, we have the same situation with our school in Florida. Did you incorporate as a not-for-profit and have you applied for exempt status? Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated as we are wanting to do the same.

Hi! Click here to get excellent information on all you need to do to file www.ptotoday.com/nonprofit.html

Your organization should be a seperate entity from the school and the status of the school should not affect you. No one in your group is making any money from the organization.

Hello there,

We are forming a parents association for our private school. The school is for-profit. The principal told us that it will take him at least 4-5 years to get the financial together so that he can convert the school to a non-profit status.

In the meantime, we want our parents association to be non-profit. We have been told that it is a bit tricky but we can do this. We are embarking on this journey now and would appreciate any suggestions anyone has about the process that we need to go through to register as a non-profit parents association as soon as possible. Oh, we're in CA.

Thank you!

Knita
