Holy Cow! I've always used about $1000 per group as the cost of PTA.

My math is: PTA = 6,000,000 members divided by 23,000 units = 260 paid members per unit.

$1.75 per member National dues plus average of $2.25 for state dues = $1043. (And I kind of just ignored Council dues, thinking it to be very little).

But look at this:

An Ohio PTA Council website.

$75 per unit council dues.
$200 per unit "Apportionment" (whatever that is...)
$100 per unit for the council scholarship fund.
And get this.... a 2% TAX on each unit's total revenue that goes into a "pass the bond" lobbying fund.

This has got to be at least $650 for the average unit just for Council .

I guess I'll just say that I'm feeling more confident than ever that $1000 per group math is pretty darn solid.
