Yes I learned it from the first meeting when the board had brought up going to an outside auditor the first thing and they talked about the price,I questioned how many years would this person have to go back!WOWZER!! I understand all chiefs and No indians.. But I do feel if the cooks wear to many hats that the soup gets spoiled.. I Have since the first meeting talked to many people about the situation going on there and found out experienced people where the comittee chairs and all of a sudden they have been reazining and some have had the chair just plain taken away from them.
Who can we go to get this roller coaster to stop!!

You learned all this at the first meeting? I have to wonder how you got the information. Did you get this info during the meeting? Before/After the meeting? Who gave you the info and have you verified it yourself? If this was your first meeting, I would slow down on any accusations until you know (which means YOU researched it and found it to be true) what is what and who is who. Please don't go on the word of one or two people you met, maybe for the first time, at a meeting. I hate to say it, but there is an enormous amount of politics involved in a lot of groups. I myself have been on the losing end of an election full of half truths, un-substantiated claims and just plain meanness. As my beloved grandmother once said, believe half of what you hear and even less of what you see... or something like that...lol... Don't let politics be the reason you don't join or continue to be a part of your group, but don't let it be the reason you make unfair or unwise jumps to conclusions either.
As for Committee Chairing, many groups have their officers chair and co-chair the committees. This is usually because they already have been active in the group and know what is expected of each committee. Experience is a good thing when chairing a committee. Pitch in by serving on a committee. Remember, more Indians that Chiefs. You have to be the little guy before you can appreciate being the big guy... Well, you know what I mean...lol!
Good Luck!

Hi there maybe you have some advise I just joined the PTO at my childs school and after there first meeting I came away very disturbed by what I had witnessed. This PTO hasnt Audited its books in the past 9years.I believe and so does a few other woman that this is a nessasary thing to be done before trying to make budget for this year. Our problem is that the current board does not seem to think this is nessasary.
Also the current board is try to be all the commitee chair people even though there are volunters for alot of the jobs.
We are starting to believe there is more going on than what we think. IS there a someone we can go to that is higher up to get them to obey there own By-Laws.

I'm a PTA Leader and would be happy to help anyone out that has questions about disbanding from the PTA. Although I'm a strong believer in the PTA and it's mission, I feel sometimes a group should do what is in the best interest for them. Whether it is belonging to a PTA or a PTO/PTG, etc. As long as we are all working towards helping the kids. I'd hate to see these parent groups fearing disbanding from a PTA or taking so much time on their agendas that they aren't helping the kids. That is what we are ALL here for.....children!
So if I can help you in any way, let me know.
