I'm sure both of those issues (right on red for bus and cellphone for bus driver) would be state, not federal, laws -- so tough for us to answer that one. You could certainly ask your local police officer what law is for right on red for school bueses in your state.
Wow, I don't know. I'd assume they could make a right turn on red unless it is posted that they can't. Why would it be illegal for the bus? I have a problem with seeing the bus drivers using cell phones while driving, while there are kids on the bus. That irks me to no end.
I live on Long Island,NY and today a MTA Officer pulled my sons bus driver over in fromt of my home and reamed her out about making a right turn at a red light. There were no children on her bus, my son is the first stop, This officer embarrassed the driver and i felt that he was way off with his reprimanding her. He kept repeating "Do you want me to give you a summons?" I almost said at that point well then do it already. Anyway, when my driver pulled away, the officer raised his voice to me about her turning on red and that as a parent I should be more aware of the driving safety of my sons bus driver. I told him that from where I live I can not see the driver make a turn at a traffic light, it is at least 500 yards away. I did say to him, well then you should have made her an example and written her a summons. My question to you Is the bus driver allowed to make a right turn at a traffic signal as long as there are no children on her bus?
