The district has already voted NOT to ban. Haven't heard yet what the Georgia state Board of Ed. decided last night.

I am more concerned about the 'evil themes and murder' my kids might see on TV (including on the news) when at a freinds house.

Oh well, GA is 7 out of 10 on the CP top ten (more like bottom ten, pun NOT intended). But nevertheless hopefully that district does what is right, and allows harry in school, and gives that parent a good VERBAL paddling for wanting school policy changed when boook banning is SO un-everything this country stands for.

Are you kidding me?

Ok, I'll own up to being a HUGE H Potter fan - I have all the books, have seen the movies. Here's the thing: ITS FAKE! FICTION, not real! I don't belive that in this day, the school board is actually giving creedance to this kind of nonsense. What is the next series? Bruce Colesville's "Magic Shop" series? The Magic Treehouse? The list goes on and on.

I need to correct myself. The district is not trying to ban the books- it is one, single-solitary mother.

hey Lucella, i hope that district that is trying to ban harry potter, is not one where CP is allowed/practiced!

beignets-
Can't be 100% sure about the cp in the school district, but it is Gwinnett County, Georgia. The Georgia State Board is holding a public hearing tonight. The local already decided unanimously, after a public hearing NOT to ban the book in May, after a public hearing. According to a 4/06 article in the Gwinnett Daily Post, she had, however, not ACTUALLY READ THE BOOKS!!, stating that they were too long, but still alleges they contain "evil themes, witchcraft, demonic activity, murder, evil blood sacrifice, spells and teaching children all of this."
