When we have teachers who retire we normally buy them a watch that we have the back of engraved with their retirement date and something like " XXX School will miss you". If they are female we normally give them a boquet of flowers too. We hold what we call a "retirement tea" after school in the gym. We invite staff, parents, & teachers to attend. We serve refreshments like cake, cookies, ice tea & lemonade and present them with their gifts. Then everyone just gets an opportunity to mingle and say good bye.

Dont have an idea for a 'real present' , but for a practical stocking stuffer, you could get the retiring teacher a membership to AARP ? seriously, theres good infos there for everyone.

(Otherwise, cash is king/queen. Gift certificate to a book store or amazon.com is always handy)

Hello Everyone, I am coordinating an end of the year teacher gift for both of my children's classroom teacher's one of whom which is retiring at the end of this year. I was hoping that someone here can help me in a search for a gift idea for a retiring teacher. Your ideas and suggestions are much appreciated.. Time is running out I was going to get her a blanket but our PTO has already given that to her. Last day of school is Monday so a quick response would be appreciated as well.

Thank you,
