Steven,
Thanks for all the good info. I will check our bylaws. I'll keep you informed.

MareMare- I hear you pleas girl and I am here to help. First, you need to look at where your Volunteer coordinator falls under- is it a Board position or committee Position? If it is a committee position, your bylaws will probably state that one of your board members will act as a governing officer of that committee- that committee members are volunteers. So no vote would be needed to oust her from her duties, just simply inform her that her services are no longer needed. If it is a Board position- then a majority vote is required to remove them from office. I hope I have been helpful in this matter- good luck!

Thanks Kelley! My coordinator did finally phone and we talked 2 hours. She claims she wasn't aware of other duties that she has missed or should havebeen doing. Maybe, that was my fault for not making sure of the duties. I just assumed she knew because this is her second year as grades K-1 coordinator! So, I am going to try one more time with her, plus meet with the other coordinators and go over what the school and I expect them to do.

I appreciate your advice and I am planning on seeing if it works with my group!

Thanks Again,
Dee

I am dealing the same types of "how do we remove someone from office" questions. Nothing in our by-laws currently deal with this... so, it will certainly be an agenda item this year!
My husband is often told at work that there are no bad employees, just ones who haven't been properly trained! Before terminating someone, he always tries to 1) Help them get better at the job their currently doing; then, 2) Let's them try a different position that may be a better fit. I think I'm going to steal this operating procedure from him... I think it can work for PTO members, too!

Good luck!

I am the pres. of our pto. I am having trouble with one of my vol.cords , she does not want to do much, or return my calls.
This person was on pto last year as a coordinator. I found out since then how she was very lazy. I did not pick her for my group!! She was asked if she wanted to stay on with pto from the former president.
I thnk she wants the title but not the work! Does anyone know what bylaws I need to follow to have her removed? My whole group is complaning now about her. I am open for any ideas!
