pto yeah...wow unlimited terms, burnout city here you come! Our bylaws are like serendipity two years in the same office. Although our bylaws are now i have been the only leader of our group existance (since sept 2001) This year after a huge change of administration I was basically asked to stay on until our new principal started in July, oh wait that one quit and we still don't have one..oops! I'm done in March no matter what!
Our by-laws were changed a few years ago to say that an officer shall serve an unlimited term or until successors are elected. Not sure why that was done other than it's like pulling teeth to find new officers. I'm pretty sure, however, that my 2 years as pres. will be enough after this one. I wouldn't mind serving in another postion though.
I'm curious about what your by-laws say and what your guidelines are as well. If you become President will you then have to find a new treasurer?

Typically if no one wants the position then you should be free and clear to step up and do the job. Our bylaws say that you can only hold office for 2 terms, but if no one runs for the position you may stay in the position. We have a school in our district where one woman has been the president for 6 years because no one else ever wants the job.
That would be me, among many others on here. I started out as VP, then pres. I skipped a year and became secretary because our bylaws state you cannot hold an office for two consecitive years. Bylaws are often ignored. If your general members vote to set aside that rule if no one else will do it. Family issues should take priority.
I was pres for two years. I now am the treasure on the second year. I have been told that the current pres may step down mid term. They is no one as of now that will or can run for the office besides myself. Do I run or not? Should I let the bylaws wave in the wind and if some one that does not meet the guide lines wants it have it or go for it. I was told the I should not run or could not run do to family issues. How many of you out there have held that office more than once?
