There are many parents in our school district who would like to see school uniforms mandated, particularly in our middle schools. Our district of just under 6,000 enrollment has a significant percentage of families at or below poverty level. Uniforms are ideal for many reasons, the best being that they eliminate class distinctions, the so called "haves" vs. the "have-nots".
I am interested in hearing from individuals in similar districts. Are there programs out there to help defray the cost of uniforms for economically disadvantaged families?
