Going to the Principal is not an option. The Principal likes her.

Sorry, but I have to wonder if this couldn't be an advantage! THE PTO NEEDS to have the books audited...not you, not her, not the other new parents involved but THE PTO and right now... we can only hope that she has nothing to hide.

I would hope the Principal would help only because there are some hard feelings, you know they have a friendship (business or personal) and hope that she (the Principal) would be able to help as a mediator in this situation. The PTO really needs to have the Treasurer books audited as a basic housekeeping measure.

Other than that, short of setting an appointment with the auditor and letting her know this is when the books need to be turn into or given to the auditor for review, this is a tough situation.Unfortunatly, you know how you would handle yourself but we can't control the feelings of others. If she is truely hurt, there could be something there but if she is just about the election, end of the year, not winning, rejection............she needs time to deal. Meantime (just like with our own kids when we hope that they can resolve and issue amongst themselves, we can step in) you need a mediator. yesterday!

If she is not willing to be forthcoming or helpful, make sure she hads over all records ASAP and do an audit immediately. Then try to organizes what she has into any info that the incoming Treasurer might need and let the new person know what is expected of her so she can get started.

We held our elections last week and I got re-elected to pres again. My problem is the outgoing Treas., also ran for president. Now we are having a hard time trying to set up an audit of the books and she is not all that willing to share her knowledge of the Treas., position with the incomming Treas. She is being real resentful towards all of us. She was the only one not to get elected to anything.(doesnt/cant deal with others) She has been around the school for years and has never been anything but the treas., and sec., 2 years then takes a break. Wonder Why? She was the one who said that we can't change this because thats not how it was done when so and so was in. Going to the Principal is not an option. The Principal likes her.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
