WHAT SHOULD I DO?

WHAT SHOULD I DO? was created by Mary Cahoe
I have been active in P.T.O. since my oldest son entered Kindergarten and he is in middle school. I served as vice president for a few years then president for 4 years. During that time I was working from home full time running a licensed day care. Once my youngest, now in first, was in school full time I took a job doing Admissions and Marketing for a nursing home full time working outside of the house. It took on ALOT of hours and was a huge responsibility. Anyway, I had been president for 4 years and had been training a vice president to take over the president position. I didn't run for president this year, even though it was hard to let go and many people wanted me to she ran and got it. She is doing an ok job but participation has been low, fundraising has been low and I have had ALOT of people come and ask me...since I am not at that job anymore and am looking at reopening the day care, if I am going to run for president again. I don't know what to do? We don't usually have more than one person interested so usually the one that marks president gets it, if I run, it'd be wierd since I am friends with this new president and I don't want to hurt her feelings but I don't think she is being tough enough and staying on top of things and making sure that they get done. I know, from experience that the first year as president is so overwhelming and I assume that she will step up a bit more next year but people, including myself, are questioning if the organization can take much more and people are begging me to run. I have had 5 or more people ask me and several more hint about it. This is a smaller community and everybody knows everybody and I just don't know what to do. Anybody have a similar situation, any suggestions?
