Does your current principal think that moving to 2 PTOs would be a good idea? If so, then follow their advise or have your group vote on it. There are always the people who will try to find fault in everything and I think it would be a good idea to have one for each school just to try to keep those problems to a minimum because we can't always meet everyone's needs especially when you are just getting started. I always feel like shadowing and lots of notes are good for newcomers.

We are a K-3 and 4 - 8. We have one PTO, one set of officers. We just make sure that we split profits from fundraisers. Both principals attend the meetings to make sure that each schools individual needs are met. No problems and I personally could not imagine trying to get to another meeting during the month.

We are a new K-8 school that has one PTO. We will be splitting into two schools in August of 2006. K-5 and 6th-8th. We will then need a PTO for each school.
Should we hold elections now for the new elementary PTO board and have them "shadow" the current board? Some people think this is a good idea then we (the current board for the K-8 school) can help the new PTO get started up. :confused:
