disagreement with principal & substitute hire

Forgive me... is it the former teacher you want gone or do you have a bad sub?

PLease remember while you live in a "snug" community, your Principal does have confidentaily stuff to think about here. I also grew-up in a small town so I know but beyond rumors and gossip, it was understood the Principal could not met us for coffee and give us the real reason Miss X left our school. I'm kinda surprised the other subs haven't steppedup to offer help during this time, the other question here is are they licensed to teach K-2? That's a tough one. This is also were your trust in the Principal is tested. I like him and think he is doing a great job but just not sure... he needs your trust and faith that he can pull the school through a shi!!y situation. In this situation I have learned to ask "I just want to understand what is going on without too many details."

Geez,,, here is a postive for you... we all need negative role models!

And I think you have one!

I'd ask the Principal why she was choosen over the other two. Perhaps they were not available and he was stuck. Perhaps he likes the underdog... if it was my kid and his classroom, I'd have a parent volutneer there EVERY MINUTE in that classroom,,, if i had to do it myself... and I'd be putting the word out that this schools need a new full time on staff teacher, ASAP.

Be part of the solution not part of the problem... the teacher is here, that decission is made, get your questions answered and move it forward... don't waddle to much in it. Look for the solution, spend your energy there.

We are a very small community and school living overseas. You sneeze in our 'town' and everyone knows. That being said, our school year started with a new principal and two new teachers, out of three full time teachers. We have combined grades within our three classrooms (K-6). The K-2grade teacher, new to the school, quit within the first week. She stayed on for two more weeks while a replacement was sought. But since we are overseas it was not possible to find one that quickly. A substitute had to be brought in during the seven weeks it took to find a replacement.

This same person lives with her husband in our community. She has behaved abusively to most of our store managers, to our housing personnel, and has abused her own pets in her home. Remember we all live amongst each other! We see, sadly, too much! She has created a situation for herself in our community where everyone stays clear of her.

Our principal has three substitutes available for the three fulltime teachers in our school. But he has decided he needs another and believes in giving people a second chance. He has hired this teacher,(who quit within the first week of this school year because she could not handle the multi-age classroom)to come and substitute. Our parents are in an uproar. We are meeting with our principal next week at a pre-set coffee for parents to urge him to reconsider. Is there other advice and things we could be considering to help stress our concern with this person comming back into our childrens' lives? Help????
