Top Ten Reasons to Volunteer - Teachers?

Those are some great reasons. I'm just finding it hard to understand that the teachers wouldn't want to help out!!!! It seems like that's all that helps at ours. We can't seem to get the parents to volunteer, but last year we bribed them. We offered them 50 cents off food for every 30 minute shift they completed. It paid off in spades!

Thanks for your input. Here are some of our ideas. We would also like a few cute ones too.

Two words: Cake Walk

Because 5 days a week with these angels just isn't enough.

You want to be able to guard your supplies.

Because you remember how fun it was when you were a kid.

See our school transformed into Chuck E. Cheese's.

You don't have to grade anyone's work.

A golden opportunity to clear your wallet or purse of those filthy germ laden $10 or $20 bills.

Our Winter Carnival has 1/2 the fat of other festivals on the market.

When you stay home you get too many telemarketing calls anyway.

You can put off doing your grading homework for a few hours.

Raising hand enthusiastically will keep arm from falling asleep.

Uses less energy than planning to volunteer and feeling guilty when you don't

You can usually wear jeans

Great perks. Smiles and pats on the back.

You won't have to take your work home with you.

As you can see we are in dire need of everyones help to come up with a motivating list to encourage our teachers and staff to participate-volunteering time to help run the games, etc. I truly believe that if we can get our teachers at the Carnival that the kids will come.

Here's a couple from a group recruiting volunteers for a festival. Most were too specific to their organization, but these might be seed ideas.

No one has ever proved that sleep deprivation causes permanent damage

You get to meet people from exotic locations like Ottawa, Illinois and Geneva, Florida

Hey, it beats the Macarena

(Festival Name)has 1/2 the fat of other festivals on the market.

Of course to update this, you'd probably have to promote volunteering as having "no carbs". Which leads to to think, maybe something like volunteering being a great weight loss aid because you're too busy working the event to eat all the great event junk food.

At least this one has some humour... You ARE going to share your final results with us, right???

TOP 10 REASONS WHY SOMEONE WOULD BE AN ADULT (BOY) SCOUT VOLUNTEER)

#10 To help your community and wear fancy duds.

#9 An opportunity to do stupid comic skits for no money.

#8 A chance to plan a one hour meeting that too three anguish-filled hours to prepare for scouts who only want to know "What's the Snack."

#7 Where else do you get to sew hundreds of little patches on a uniform only to have your son outgrow it.

#6 An opportunity to go out and enjoy nature with a bunch of nine-year-olds instead of watching Notre Dame play Florida State.

#5 A chance to get rid of all those worthless pieces of string, yarn, fabric, wire and plastic milk bottles.

#4 To provide the perfect excuse to your friends so you don't have to golf, go to dinner, or play tennis.

#3 An opportunity to get and store forever priceless crafts made from useless pieces of string, yarn, fabric, wire and plastic milk bottles.

#2 An opportunity to witness stupid comic skits.

and the number one reason why someone would be an adult scout volunteer:

#1 A golden opportunity to clear your wallet or purse of those filthy germ laden $10 or $20 bills.

Okay, I just re-read this thread and maybe its participation/attending that you are promoting?? Or is it volunteerism?

Well either way - I'll leave these posts in here in case they generate other ideas.

I'm feeling totally uncreative, but I'll see if I can find any such lists posted on the Interet for you. Maybe it will get things started.

This one has some cute items. (Courtesy of Mothers, Inc.)

We're putting together a Winter Carnival and want to encourage teachers/staff to participate. I'm trying to generate a "Letterman-esque" top 10 list of reasons they should. For example... "Two words: Cake Walk". But I'm stuck at about 7. Any ideas out there?
