What to do?

Nothing but advise your VP what needs to be done and let "her" do it. Most important, you have so much to think about this is really the last thing you need to worry about.

This is when you need to have faith and trust in your Board. Easier said than done but the VP needs to know you trust her decision, you don't have to like it but support it. I also gather the Treasurer can, will, and smart enough to sick up for anything she doesn't like.

I hope you have an easy and smooth move to your new home, and the kids have an easy transition-- been there done that too much ;) .

The year I became president I was VP. The pres called me that day and said she was resigning. The floor was opened up for nomination of pres, which I was nominated and accepted, then the floor was opened up for VP. At that time there was only three of us on the board. The treasurer served as sec. I didn't want to have a dictative board, that just makes people turn away from the PTO so when my VP decided to quit the next year. During Fall Festival, a week before my surgery, and two weeks before my husbands back surgery.... I made a special flyer, put on the bulletin board and web page and the local paper that nominations would be taken for VP.

I am the President of our PTO and I just found out we are moving. I told our VP on Monday. She didn't take it so well. So the VP is going to step up and be pres. Our Sec wants to become VP. So the secretary position need to be fill. Two people have been asked. So I just found out that the VP best friend want to be sec. So now the VP will allow the person she asked to become sec and if she don't want to the VP will give it to her best friend and not the other person because she is new. Also they have not included the tresurer in all of this planning. So now I have called a board meeting for Monday. I now that the VP can step up and I know that the present sec has to resign and then run again for VP, but what do I do about the rest. I know that a board decision can be made on the position and Roberts Rules states that because it is early in the year that we have to have a election. But I guess my problem is that I feel people are going to get there feeling hurt and I feel the future pres is going to start leaving people (tresurer) out of board decisions. So what do I do? I can't leave knowing what I feel is going to happen. So PLEASE help with any advise or rules or bylaws you all can think of. I feel bad enough leaving. I don't want to leave with thing beening all messed up.
