I'm new here, this is my first post. Just a quick note to say I like what I've read on these boards so far.
I'd like to hear what some of your school themes are. We've had ours for 2 years and I'd like to suggest a change - our mascot is an owl but the theme doesn't have to tie into that. Any suggestions are welcome.
Here's what our theme was: "Lights/Camera/Action" The monthly newsletters were written to theme, bulletin boards were decorated accordingly and volunteer programs like Accelerated Reader tied into the theme. (I ran this last year and made huge fake movie magazine covers for the hall bulletin boards. Monthly winners from each grade level got their pictures on the cover of the 'magazine' for a month, then went to the 'hall of fame' for the rest of the year. The kids loved to dress up in movie star things like feather boas and top hats for the pics.)
Maybe what we did last year will help others - I'd love to hear what your past themes have been and how you executed them throughout the school.
