Health/safety/parenting ideas

What about something like the DARE program? Or maybe teaching the kids what to do when a stranger approaches them? Our school has always taught our kids what to do about strangers. It has worked out really well. Buckle up for safety is another one. Thats all I can think of right now. Good Luck!

Our group did nothing with health/safety/parenting issues this last school year. (It's a new school, and it just never made it to the top of the priority list.) We want to try to research some things over the summer that we might do next year. (They might be presentations to parents, school wide observances, grade level assemblies, etc.--anything goes at this point.) I've got a list of things we thought of to research off the top of our heads; can anyone add to it? Or maybe tell what they've done on any of these on the list?

Health fair
Turn-off TV week
Block parent program
ID cards for kids
Backpack safety
Nutrition in kids' lunches
Red ribbon week
Anti-bullying programs
Gang prevention
Internet safety
