Showing appreciation for board members

We don't actually give the other board members a gift. We are co-presidents and we invite the board members over and basically feed them and tell them how much support they were for us. I have been on a board for a few years and never expected anything from the president. Our principal one year gave us nice pins with the schools name on it. I think we all know we do it because we care so just a thank you sometimes is enough. We rarely ever hear those 2 words from anyone. No one knows how much work being on a board can be except other board members. So let me just say to you and other board members. Thanks for giving up so much of your time and you are doing a great job!

I'm the HSA President for a small Catholic school with about 176 students coming from about 120 families. Our board consists of 10 members many of whom have been on the board for several years and have contributed countless hours, money and resources to the HSA, school, and activities. For instance, we don't have a cafeteria so we take lunch orders weeks in advance for Domino's, hot meals, and Chick Fil A. This is a huge volunteer responsibility. Anyway, our bylaws state that we can't use HSA funds to benefit the board members. We've had a tough year with lack of involvement from parents who are upset with the school administration. I'd like to give our board members a gift of some kind but I'll probably have to do it out of my own pocket. Any creative/inexpensive ideas? We have one man on the board the rest are women.

Thanks!
Michele
