I agree with you. I said I liked the first paragraph, not the whole article.

I think the writer presented the message poorly (actually she was quoting a president, so maybe the president stated it poorly), but there are differences in the way women and men generally interact in meetings.
It's a Mars and Venus thing, and I do think all groups trying to reach out to Dads are wise to consider these differences in their outreach.
Yeah, for more dads being involved.

Boo, for the comment that the meetings were a place for women to discuss where to buy the latest nail polish...What year is this? Our meetings are about school issues and I run this group like a board meeting. (Having worked for a Fortune500 Company I know how to do this.) How dare they put forth the idea that most PTO's are about women baking cupcakes. For an article that started off as praising parental involvement in their child's school they did a downhill slide after that. Even if all we WERE about was baking cupcakes at least we're involved in our school. We're seen, so the children know we're there. We're available, so the teachers know we care. Sorry to rain on the parade, Tim, but dad's do need to get more involved no matter in what area and I'm glad they are getting more involved in the PTO side, but let's not forget who has carried this torch for so many years!!!
