I personnally miss this ceremony. I know that my old high school still does as well as my husbands. Something like this you need to check with the district polices etc. Now I'm thinking how can you be told no if this is held in a site off school campus and it's an optional event.

Please be advised that our PTO would like to propose that we organize and sponsor a baccalaureate program/ceremony for this year's graduates. Knowing that public school officials are legally restrained from promoting baccalaureate services that may have a religious component , our question is can the PTO legally sponsor this optional/ non-mandatory attendance affair ?
