Not far from our school another charter school was started (years before ours) and is strictly ran by the parents! NO KIDDING! Okay, the district didn't like how business was being done so they pulled their charter and cut funding (yes, they can do that). Meantime, parents from that school helped start our school with our principal. Anyway, this charter school was able to regain their charter (I'm not sure how) AND decided to build a lawsuit against the school district! This has been in the court for FOUR YEARS and I learned today that the school won. -Hang on it gets better!!! The school district was ordered to award the school $5 millon so they GAVE them a HUGE cut of land in a great spot for a new building (something they really need with aspestos in the old building that is reallt located and another school disrict)and just a great demographics! Are you ready? In anticipating the verdict, school officals (aka parents) went AROUND city officals to get what they needed to build! The cities people are NOT happy and pulled the plug on everything! SO here is this school in the last five years they have suied the school district, trying to sue the district they are in, teed off the City, and are sitting on $5M in property they can't touch!!!
