Board Member Retirement

Our school has what we call a Sunshine Fund.
We allow for in our budget $$$ for staff that have babies, get married, retire, etc.
We also give Gifts to Students and Gifts to School. The $$$ have to be approved by our Exec Board. At the end of the year, we list all volunteers on the bullentin board and they recieve a small token gift such as an ink pen, a Star pin(we are Superstars), etc.
This year is a big year for us, our Principal is retiring. I have no idea what is being planned but I hope we do not go over the $$$ already planned in the budget.
I hope this helps.

Hmmm, I would say that to be politcally correct, all should receive the same. As for having 2 this year and maybe 10 the next, just set the individual amount & be flexible enough in the budget to cover how ever many you need at that amount per. How about giving an engraved plaque or even a nice flowering plant/small tree that the recipient can plant around their home--a semi permanent display to remind them that they were appreciated.(not the same, but our school, we plant a small Bradford pear tree in memorium of any students/staff we've lost in death)

I'm interested in ideas on what to do with Committee Chairs or board members that are moving up to Jr. High or moving out of the district. We have items in mind, we just need to be politically correct. Should a Exec. Board member get more? Should more years (time) of service mean anything? How about people that have moved on in life, (I know I can't believe that's possible), but still have children in the school. We do thank all volunteers personally, in newsletters and at our end of year tea. We'd like to set a dollar amount but this year we have 2, next year might be 10 people. Any input please.
