Thanks Lisa. But that is a Saturday. Is that typical to have a school based appreciation day on a weekend? The principal appreciation is new to me so I have no idea when it was held in the past. Not sure what we're going to do either. If anything if we can't figure out the correct day.

Principal's Day is April 30 to tie in with Administrative Week. I still don't know what to do for it. Not sure I could get the school involved, but I bet I could get the teacher's to do something.
Are you sure that Principal's Day is May1st this year? :confused: That's a Sunday. Isn't it usually during the week? I brought this up to my fellow board members and they are excited to do something for our principal but we want to get the day correct. Thanks in advance!

My husband is an elementary school principal...and I'm a PTO President (at different schools) -- we have some heated discussions sometimes!
He/We LOVE those simple gifts that remind him/us of the wonderful families and children who are a big part of our lives.
That photo sounds wonderful...my husband's office at home and school is filled with notes and pix of kids, from kids, young and old. He especially loves the ones that kind of make fun of him -- he always wears funny ties, so one day all the kids (secretly spread around by the teachers) dressed up in shirts and wild paper or fabric ties that they had been working on -- just perfect. He just about died walking into school that day... (He also wears glasses and some of them even had glasses and saddle shoes like him)
My point is that it is not expensive gifts but the thoughtfulness of children that make being a principal an amazing career. This Christmas we received many cards from former students/families. This year was a first: his first student to be married and have a child of her own. It really freaked him out! (She had graduated from college and was all of 23)
On a sad note, three weeks ago there was an electrical fire at his school (in the evening) and his office was totaled...he lost a great deal of artwork and pictures...and he has been so sad, but so glad no one was in the building at the time.
I have no clue what we'll do this year! Im thinking about trying to arrange a shot of the whole school together on the playground... Im sure I can get our head secretary to help me arrange things for a day when our principal is scheduled to be away... and the teachers at our school are very supportive of everything we do; they'll help with the kids!
As for pictures... I just brought my camera with me everytime I came to the school for about a month. By May, we had plenty of pictures to choose from. We only spent $20 on the frame... the remainder of the supplies came from our own stash of scrapbooking stuff!
