February 5th there was another shooting here in the Denver area at a high school. Thankfully a resourse officer on duty caught the teen (14 yrs old) and he has been charged but once again I am hear trying to explain first what is a lock down, second why was that kid so mad. A close friend of ours wrote a amazing letter to the editor of our local paper. He began his letter with the cell phone call from his daughter at the school that morning "Daddy, there is a boy with a gun outside our school." The boy had been bullied by a group of youngesters and was fed-up. Our kindergarden class is now asking questions we are trying to answer to help them feel safe.
I guess this country gal misses the simplier life but I also know it's not much better there either. The high school is 3 miles from our school, close enough for concern but far enough I didn't even know it was there!
We have policies ect at our school and are fairly close family atmosphere for our small high school so we don't see it but still...
