You can adopt members of the military by going to:

www.operationmilitarypride.org They will send you the name and address of someone overseas--they are very speedy about it too!

Another one is
www.adoptaplatoon.org They do the same thing but it takes a LONG time to get approved.

If you want to know about the restrictions on sending a package to a certain area, go to www.oconus.com and enter in their APO or FPO number and it will tell you what you cannot send. Things of religious nature, pork, nudity, etc. are all prohibited. I've adopted about 12 people so far in every branch of service. Trying to get our school and community involved. If you need a list of items that they need over there, just let me know.

Thanks!
Crystal

I want to thank you all for your interest in our troops.
My best friends husband died at Ft. Bragg on Jan. 25th. He and his unit were set to deploy in May. As a tribute to him, his nieces have started a carepackage drive. They are asking families and local business from their hometown in New Hampshire to donate items for carepackages. The program has now spread to the army base and a few other locations around the county. All of this because a 6 yr old and a 10 yr old wanted their uncle to be remembered.
After things have been gathed we are getting them to Ft. Bragg and then onto the troops in the middle east.
If you need to get your letters to the troops I'm sure they could be sent to my friend and she could get them where they need to go. You are also more than welcom to participate in the carepackage program. I'm not sure what the mail regulations are for the rest of us but, I think they can get mail from their imidiate family without restriction. Of course, when it is mailed directly from a base it's not a questionable as general mail.
Ron was 29 years old. He died jumping from a helicopter. He had a heartattack between the chopper and the ground. He has a wife and two wonderful children, they are 4 and 6. They will be remaing at Ft. Bragg until at least late this summer.
I recently visted the family at the base and made some great new friends. The sad thing is that everyone I met has a husband who is somewhere in the middle east. They are a closeknit group who fully support their husbands and are very patriotic. Anything anyone could do to help you and your cause, they would do in a heartbeat. Besides New Hampshire and N.C., I also know of family members in OH, NM, SD, VT, FL, and GA. I'm sure we could find you contact in your part of the country.

My parent troop "liaison" informed me that we were still a Go - and that was yesterday!

Keep on stampin'!! The troops are also looking for magazines, so I'm asking everyone I know for current issues of the following:

Readers Digest
Computer PC or technology magazines
Sports Illustrated
Hunting or Fishing Magazines
Entertainment Magazines
Travel Magazines - Nat'l Geographic
Automobile or Custom Car Magazines
New crossword or word search puzzle books
?????
