First, we had the students write a thank you note/letter their teacher and any other teacher they wanted to. Then we gave them a list of (nice) words that could describe their teacher and told them to circle the ones that best fit their teacher. With the thank you note/letters, we created a wall of thanks and hung up every note/letter we received. With the nice words, we made flowers and from a die-cut and wrote one word per flower that was on the list the kids circled. We hung these up in the teachers lounge so they had a bouquet of flowers for everyday. Every morning we had something new on their table in the lounge. Fruit with carmel dip, donuts, muffins and cookies, etc. Things that they could snack on during the day. On friday, we put certificates for each teacher rolled up in a basket with an award die-cut out tied to each one with ribbon and put their names on it. Wednesday, which was actually teacher appreciation day, we catered a lunch for them.
This past year we looked to the room moms for assistance. It's amazing how many room moms we have that are not quote signed up for PTO?! Each grade level was responsible for one day of the appreciation week for lunch that day. Some of the mom's went all out "mexican fiesa", "italian", etc. It became some what of a competiton between the gradelevel moms. This was one instance when everyone did a great job and the work load was off the typical 1/2 doz who do the majority of the work. Some even went as far as to spruce of the lounge with a few deco with the theme! All the teachers were so impressed and very appreciative! Just another idea...we plan on this again this year!Have a great Day!

We have a small budget so we make the most by doing little things. Apples to everyone one day- I should also mention we honor EVERYONE that gets a paycheck at our school not just the teachers (they all work so hard!) peppermint patties (you are worth a mint!) 100 grand bars ( you are worth a million but this is all we had in the budget!)
Our BIG event is a BBQ lunch served on Friday of that week. We serve a simple burger and salads but it's free and they don't have to sack lunch it OR eat the school's lunch that day!
I even did little wall hangings or something for their desk that says it all "Thank You" that's it. It's what we really wanted to say SO it worked!
I try and think about what I would want to receive and really avoid the cliche teacher stuff but rather items they can use, eat, or want to keep and like to look at it everyday AND not be embarrased to admit how it was recieved if asked.
Your local custom print shop will have tons of ideas and it will be easier to order in large quanites from them than Hallmark for example. Check with Moms that sell Tupperware, Creative Memories, Stampin Up, etc for anything they can do or even prizes for drawings you can do during lunch (don't forget the men!)
I have a feeling I could go on forever but I have a crying one SO I hope you will remove your hand from the "OH MY GOSH WHAT AM I DOING" button and have fun with this great week! (I get to plan snacks for 810 students for every other day for four weeks UUGGHHH! [img]smile.gif[/img] :cool: ...trade ya?? darn.
I've been researching some ideas for Teacher Appreciation week and was wondering if anyone had some good ideas. We are looking to do something each day so they don't necessarily have to all be big things.
