Lisa,

You've learned much about the software. I sent you the "badges" .... 8 per page. You can print them on heavier weight paper and then cut them out. Laminating won't take much time. The extras can be used for dumping in the name/title of guest speakers, etc....

We need to "chat" sometime and I'll walk you thru the formating piece. The cursor just needs to be highlighting the text box or the picture box...

You should get LOTS of mileage on this! Congratulations on a most excellent effort.

I hadn't thought of using luggage tags. I was just going to check around at some of office supply stores and see if they had any.

ptotwin mom- I sent the image file. The last couple of days has taught me that I really don't know that much about my computer. Thank you so much for doing this for me.

Hey Lisa-- know nothign about graphic art but I made the tag it self with lugage tags. You know the kind you can put your business card in and the laminate peels off paper to give you the sticky side. make sense? They already have a hole in the top and mine looking great and going on it's third year! (Even has survived the new baby teething on it...not recommended but ya know)

Lisa...
I sent you a 4X4 with the washed out roadrunner and your name, etc... brought to front. It's a work around... because what I really need is the pic file itself.
Actually... it's simple. As long as you have the RoadRunner saved in some image format (.jpg, .bmp, etc..)... then what you want to do is use is Format Background and then select Watermark... and you can select a picture for the watermark.
As for the color... I can't remember off the top of my head... sent it and I'll give it a shot.

I spent over 2 hours trying to get it the way I wanted it. What I am looking for is to have the roadrunner(our mascot) in the background and the words over it. I know it can be done on Word, I have proof of it. I just don't know how to accomplish it. I studied that darned tutorial for ever. Is this technique called a certain thing? Maybe I was typing in the wrong keywords. I have the roadrunner already on file, so that's not a problem. I have several different ones, so I'm not sure which one to use. The best one would probably be the 1 color one so that the words show up better. As I was typing this, I came up with a brainstorm. Why not design them the same way I designed our shirts?!?!?!? That too took me hours to do, but I finally did it! I could try to condense it to badge size. HMMMMMMMMM I'll let you know how it turned out. Thank you very much for your help. I was about to pull my hair out.

We just do ours in Word and use standard plastic clip-on namebadges like you see at conferences. We don't bother with the laminating as these are reuseable and easily changed. We try to stick with software packages that are easily accessible and don't require special knowledge. That way there's more continuity. The PTO purchased two licenses for the MicroSoft suite (not including Publisher) that are on resource computers at the school. So all our files are pretty much Word or Excel.

I agree with twinptomom - you should be able to copy the mascott in if it's a piece of clipart or a graphic file. If not, you can scan it and create the art. Sounds like she's all set to help you. If you need additional help - email me.
