Target also has an arts program, but it does have restrictions.

A lot of the Arts in Education grants require you to be a 501(c)3 Charity, which our Public School does not qualify. I'll probably have to investigate whether we can be a splinter parent group.

Check out Arts in Education programs thru your museums, colleges, etc. They may also have grants available to help defray the cost.

just a note. My daughter is going thru the same school that I did. I played on these instruments over 25 years ago. They're B.A.D.

interesting note.. One Cello had the "dark side of the moon" prism scratched into it .. (it must have been my dirt-ball brother who did it!!).

Just a comment about string instruments, unlike a piano which devalues with time and loses it's ability to stay tuned, a stringed instrument actually gets better with age. If these cellos look bad but sound good, then maybe you could find professional who could spruce them up. :cool:

My daughter (4th grade) just signed up for viola thru our school system. I was appalled at the cellos they use (40+ years old).
