Have you tried to send a certified letter that they have 10 days to clear it up or you will file charges against them in small claims court and they are going to be liable for court costs and all of the other fees included. Don't take a personal check only money order or cash that you can make a appt. to meet with them at the school and count it out. In the letter I would probably include a copy of the signed note as well. I would hate to do that to a family but come on your organziation is being accountable for the money.

This breaks my heart. It is so disappointing. Have you had problems with these same people in the past? I hate to see anything come to this, but I saw the Girl Scouts took a family to small claims court who didn't pay the $$$ for their cookies. I wouldn't recommend it unless you really NEED the money, but I guess it's always an option, especially since you had the paper signed to begin with. Maybe printing out this forum with the suggestions and anonymously dropping them in their mailbox would do the trick????? Good Luck.

This February we did a dollar candy bar fund raiser. We had parents and students sign permission slips to bring home a box of bars to sell and return the money from the sale. Its been about a month since the sale ended and we still have about 10 students that have not returned their money. We've sent home two written notices with the student, called the homes and left messages and have now sent a letter from the school asking for the money. What else can we do? Has anyone else had to deal with this problem and what did you do? We are out about $500.
