WE ARE A BALTIMORE CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL.WE ARE A UNIFORM SCHOOL.I AM THE PRESIDENT OF OUR PTO AND THE MOTHER OF FOUR CHILDREN ATTENDING MARREE G. FARRING.THE UNIFORMS ARE WHITE TOPS AND BLUE BOTTOMS.IT IS WORKING GREAT IT REALLY HELPS TO ELIMANTE PEER PRESURE PROBLEMS.I DON;T KNOW WHY BUT WE SEEM TO HAVE LESS PROBLENS WHEN ALL THE STUDENTS ARE DRESSED THE SAME.SINCE WE ARE A PUBLI SCHOOL WE CAN NOT FORCE THE KIDS TO WEAR THEM .THE PTO GIVES OUT PRIZES TO ALL IN UNIFORM,PENCILS AND STICKERS ON A WEEKLY BASIS.WE ALSO HAVE A UNIFORM BANK TO HELP THOSE IN NEED.IT MAKES MY LIFE EASIER IN THE MORNING DRESSING 4 KIDS.HOPE THIS HELPS.

Did your school board believe that uniforms would have some how prevented the Columbine shootings? Is that why they switched?

I'm not a fan of uniforms. I have no objection to a dress code which requires students to be presentable, but I don't like uniforms.

I live near Denver and when the school shooting at Columbine took place our School Board honestly said THAT"S IT! Next year we ARE having uniforms! White shirts and navy blue pants were introduced and the rest is history!

Yes we did lose parents but amazingly we had a waiting list longer than we ever dreamed of!

JCPenny catalog has a terrific selection of uniforms as do many other retailers but I find having a catalog to show parents helps and gives them a place to start.

I really like having uniforms and believe our family saves a lot of money a year on school clothes - no compition between girls! Also our students look great!!
Something the student council does now is offer a dress down day- they pay a $1 and get to wear jeans for the day! They raised $300+!
