After we developed our web site and the teachers realized how many hits the site got many decided to post class assignments on their own site. (Knowing that yes, parents use the internet) They use www.teacherreports.com it is great. You can see what has been assigned, whether your student handed it in, and what grade they got on it. It is an incredible tool for us parents to help the staff. For some reason my middle school boys do not "hep" me to when they do not turn something in. LOL

Having sites where the teachrs post daily assignments is becomming pretty popular in college. I don't know much about it first hand, but I can see where it might be difficult to implement in a public school where the teachers never have enough time as it is. Besides, even with more and more families getting computers, there's still a sharp divide among the "haves" an "have nots".

I've seen references for several internet sources, many of which provide the service for free. My exploring seems to indicate it's often not kept up very well by schools and links are frequently bad. Here are some leads:
