Teacher Appreciation

We stay with the simple.....we have PTO people sign up for one morning a day during teacher appreciation week and they bring in something to eat and drink. Freshly baked blueberry muffins and O.J. was a favorite last year. It doesn't cost the PTO anything, yet shows a small token of our appreciation....
With budgets being so tight and kids having to use outdated books, it just doesn't seem right to spend money on 'trinkets' that the teachers may or may not want. Just MHO

In the past our PTO has done luncheons or breakfasts for our teachers. We also made notecards with a child's handprint on them. Sweet and simple and they loved them. We have also purchased a microwave for the teachers room. As far as classroom help goes, every year we ask the teachers to put together a wish list. Requests range from wanting more books for the classroom to needing a parent to assist with a special project or they asking for more computer equipment. We tell them that no request is too big or small. Some things we find are more appropriate for the school department to finance but sometimes we know we have a little extra money and ifmaking the purchase is going to make it easier for the teachers and kids we will fund it.

trina, for teacher appreciation day we purchased book type calendars with school name printed on cover. We do every person in school district not just teachers. I am not sure of $ amt but they are not that expensive if you shop around. we got lots of compliments and will be ordered for this year. Joanne

trina -- Is there something they could use in the faculty room that will make they're life better as a thank you? If you are going to spend $5 per teacher and you have 30 teachers, that could be one pretty nice $150 gift for all of them. Maybe a cappuccino machine or dies for an ellison machine or something.

Does anyone have any ideas on inexpensive gifts for teachers and staff for Teacher appreciation week. We'd like to give the teachers and volunteers a meaningful, but inexpensive gift of thanks. Need some creative suggestions. I'm also looking for some teacher quotes and I needs suggestions as to where I might find some.
thank you
