Our Parent Teacher Conferences Evening Session, is from 530-8pm , so what we do is a "staff recognition night" we invite all staff- from cafeteria workers to custodians to teachers and administration to a hot buffet dinner. We have a large school Prek-8 with about 100 staff and it runs about 1100 dollars to cater. (which comes to about 11 dollars each, and they love it!) This is a Thank you from parents and students for their dedication. We use this in place of the yearly teacher recognition in May(in May we buy the teachers something small. We put it in our budget every year.
We go to a restaurant to get a menu and the teachers pick what they want , they deliver and each order has the staffs name on it. It's great because they get what they want.
We ask our parents of the school kids to bring in a certain dish.
Salads, sloppy joes, chips, fruit, etc.
They really love to do this. Alot of them cannot come to school to volunteer, so this is there way of helpin out.
Sams Club or another warehouse club might have some kind of deli tray and other things to serve. Also check with a local deli who might give you a deal if you do it every month or something.

Walmart has some nice sandwich trays, you could do chili, or a potato bar. Or try to get parents to donate food or dishes.

We want to make dinner for our teachers so they don't have to leave the building for nightime conferences...any suggestions? We use to cater Olive Garden, but for $300.00, we can probably do it at a smaller cost to the PTO.
