Great outcome from 04 conference

19 years 2 months ago #106000 by Critter
I just wanted to share a story about a unique benefit that came from last year's Chicago conference. Last April, I had the chance to meet Terry Lynch of Histories For Kids in the exhibitor hall at the Chicago conference. Terry is an assembly performer who takes on the persona of a historical figure. I was very impressed by his portrayal of Lewis Merriweather and Benjamin Franklin during the conference. His depth of knowledge and elaborate costumes really brought the characters to life.

Over the course of the past year, Terry and our principal in suburban Detroit have been communicating about a major event at our school - we needed a "live" Henry Ford I, and thought Terry could fill the bill. Though Terry had never done a program on Henry Ford I, and he doesn't typically travel so far from home, he agreed to do the event.

For the last two days, Terry portrayed Henry Ford during a special interactive experience for our large student body. He gave the same presentation 8 times, always making it as entertaining as the first. The kids were impressed as "Henry Ford" himself visited with them after the formal presentation. In the Motor City, the name "Ford" carries a certain amount of prestige.

Terry did a great job for our students. I would recommend him whole-heartedly. Thanks to PTO Today for the opportunity to meet him, and other related businesses in the exhibit hall. I can't wait to see who's there this year!
