principal wants fundraising money

Different principals and different schools do different things. If your principal needs something, it's always nicer if they ask instead of tell, but that isn't always the case. Our new principal does her own fundraiser that she schedules, runs, and spends according to her wishes. She also has input on what and when our fundraisers are and is part of the team that establishes a budget based on what is raised. Is that really any different than a principal telling you they get a share, not really, but how it's approached can make all the difference. Essentially, we are all working together to make the school better and the principal is in charge of the school and everything that goes on in it. I'm sure the whole situation irked you, especially if this is a new request, your first year, or a new principal. My honest suggestion is to sit down and clear the water so you have a good working environment and the principal knows you are part of the team and hopefully will let you in on the planning of fundraisers and budgetting of money raised.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

I am new here and this is my first year as the treasurer. Our principal informed our president that she will take the money from our fall fundraiser and that we will get a portion of it. Can she do that??

Also, can she do a fundraiser without PTO involvement and keep the money??

Any advice????
