Interview new principal team

18 years 1 month ago #67047 by mykidsmom
Our parent run school board hired a new director last year and one other their questions was about the issues and testing scores our school had been in the paper about. Each canidate was asked what they knew about the school, what they have read or heard and how they felt our school could grow. Our new director answered the question adn then asked the board to answer that same question! That is when they knew they had found our new director.

Like pals said, it takes time, but it's worth it!

Oh hey...welcome!!!!

I have been through this just last year! The way our district worked it was that all the members of the interview group got together, each stakeholder recommended two or three questions. From there the personnel director put the questions in order mixing them up, on the day of the interview we arrived early, looked at the questions and how we felt about the order they were in, if there was a question that we all felt was really really important we asked to move it up on the list. Our interviews were only a little over an hour, one by one we asked the questions in order so make sure the really important questions are on the top. Mind you all the candidates had already gone through two interviews with the personnel, superintendent, etc. After our interview we wrote down how we felt about each candidate, what we dound Both times was that one canididate really stuck out as a great choice. I say twice because the first one hired he backed out after being approved and agreed to the job. We have a great one now. The main question I used was 1-How do you feel about parents in the school and what three things would you do to help that increase?
It may seem like you don't have enough time but remember that there are so many parts of the school and he may be a great parent person but a terrible teacher person...your team wants to cover all of the pieces.good luck!

Hope I am doing this right. I am new to PTO Today message board. Our Elementary school is getting a new principal and I have been asked to represent the parents during the interview process. Has out there been involved with this? The school is not giving me much info.
Thanks
