I read all of the responses to your initial question about the role of the PTO as a parent advocate in disputes with the school/Principal. I followed as you accepted the fact that the PTO is not the preferable or appropriate agency to facilitate conflict. I, too, was sitting on the edge of my seat to get an answer to your question. Then it begin to be very clear to me (about half way though reading the responses)that no one was going to take up the challenge of answering your question, at least not in such a public forum as this website.(tabboo) Perhaps it is more advisable for you to seek your answer in a more private forum: include an "untraceable" coded personal e-mail address;possibly include an offer of a cyber complimentary brown paper bag, a voice distorter and a vow never to ever quote or name the source of the information, or even ever actually make use of the answer to accomplish any minor or significant endeavor. Good luck...and I do not even believe in luck! (smile) Some matters are never spoken of or divulged in public; however there are those who are monitoring the situation. So although no one ever actually acknowledges that you even have merit to your point/protest, still matters are attended to; however at a significant cost (penalty) to the one who has the character or gall to bring the challenge against the Powers that be. So you must count the cost of. Choose your battles wisely and then with personal conviction pursue matters the best that you can and do not look for public/private approval apart from your own conscience. You will not be without blame or infallible in the sincerity of your pursuits, but you will live a life of TRUE LIBERTY.(smile) God Bless You. My school has a Parent Teacher Advisory Committee. It is a committee of the Board of Education and is chaired by a school board member. I'm not completely sure, but I think they are a select group of teachers and parents who work with the board member to investigate and bring back info regarding issues to the BOE.

P.S. Shared decision making teams are in my opinion are the least of the places to start your search for answers of this nature.
