I went to one meeting last year but I am sour on the whole school anyhow.I would have you in my "club"!!!!!!We'd get stuff done[legally, of course!]

I believe that even if I am quiet, they want me out of the way and make things difficult. I could make them supply the reason/bylaw that says where i have to go but I am waiting for the big thing coming next.I could push it and not leave the grounds next week! Maybe they'll call the sheriff and i'll be in the paper for my cause. Better 2 more hours a week with me than someone I am unsure aboutand is wasting my student's educational time.!!!
I did find out our music teacher does NOT have the music education endoresment on her cert. and every other teacher i have[legally online] cross referenced in this district DOES??The state says she is qualified[with a k-8 classroom, social science and fine arts endorsement] and but I still beg to differ!!!!!
I think that is stretching it a bit!!
I will start letting parents know. I have also checked out ALL the teacher's employed in my student's school building because i really want to know who is sharing my the building with him/her.
I am asking for them to supply all cert #'s and/or name they can be found under, if i can't find them online . Hardball,they want? Call me Babe Ruth. Still going to start the website/blog ASAP.

If you request to be put on the agenda for the BOE meeting, they have to put you on. Write an editorial to the paper also. Sounds like your school is covering something up. If you have to, go to your neighboring town's paper. Stand your ground. Good luck. (sometimes I think home schooling, too)

you can also go to the press....that sometimes gets people to take you seriously,,but you have to know someone in the press in order for your story to be told well and with your best interests/childs interests in mind.

and to your other question, a public school cannot disallow a parent from entering, i should think they can allow you to stay in the library during that one hour....after all, parent volunteers sometimes hang around the school for NO GOOD reason other than to chit chat with other volunteers or staff...so why cant yuo stay there with your child for your legitimate reason??sounds to me you are being BULLIED by the admin.

' oh yes, we get monthly notices home for fundraisers which are advertised elsewhere....killing trees of course, and not to mention the PRECIOUS time the teachers must devote to stuffing 500+ kids cubbies with PTO notices...i should think these notices could be bundled or sent via USPS i think the pub schools get reimbursed for postage...and then of course we have the pto that complain they dont have enough volunteers for their events or fundraisers, but when certain parents offer to help, they say NO - our PTO is one big sorority, and its a public school!! i was removed from a half dozen committees becuase they didnt want me 'in their club' . amazing.
anyway, yes the blogs should be for all, teachers and admin should particularly be aware of parental concerns, and you know what ???? i think if schools had blog sites , where parents could post ANONYMMOUSLY, that would take the pressure of worrying about retribution on their child,,,,,i think anything that raises awareness of parents and admin alike, is a positive. it should be a site for the plusses and minuses of the system....everyone has a right to voice his her opinion, the problem is, when you do it at school, your kid is essentially hostage to the treatment of the staff ie if they dont like your message or comment or question, or if the staff member is immature and cannot handle it w/o feeling attacked...then one's child may inadvertently be hurt by the parents question, almost ironic isnt it, questions to staff to make the school BETTER,or child treated differently, can unintentionlly have the OPPOSITE effect. its all about human behaviour and very unfortunatley, school politics. i think kids are sometimes last in line.

Grace C - at some point you need to submit your notes to someone and say,,,,,,if i dont hear from you within X days, it will mean i have documented your words/actions as i heard/perceived them to be.
of course, it all depends on the nature of the issues at hand. bottom line, everyone looks out for themselves,and the admin is no different. they SHOULD be public servants but dont always have that mindest and look out for themselves or their staff first and foremost rather than be impartial.
i have spent money on postage, certified mail, so they cant say they didnt get my mail....its been a sad school year, indeed.
