Right here in "River City"

Actually I have seen some real positive changes come from my daughter. She was found by a recent graduate of our school and have been great encouraging her to hang in there and that she can pass. Also a cousin in another state (they did get in a little trouble when they stayed up until 2AM chatting) contacted her that has always been a great friend as her mom is to me.

You know it just takes a few bad apples to ruin everything. I'm lucky, my daughter and I talk and she knows I check up on stuff and know...I reminded her I was 15 once and so was my sister!! SO WE KNOW!! or I'll find out!

Just one more thing to step up our parenting skills!

OMG My sapce is horrible. Are there any benefits of our kids being on the site?

REally, who are we kidding, the kids know what happened to the teacher and know why he was let go. I would rather open discussion to the issue of sitting down with your student and seeing who are the people listed with the school and who their friends/buddies are.

I am just tired of keeping things "under the rug".

I believe you should hit while the iron is hot. Why not make My Space the center of the discussion. the kids know more about it than the adults. It is time to educate the parents about what is going on.
I had the same issue when I started a gang prevention seminar in the 80's. In Fairbanks AK. I was told their weren't any gangs there. Much to their surprise when I sent pictures of the graffiti to a gang specialist in AZ. Got parents attention when they said we had a huge problem.

UPDATE...
The teacher was "let go" and his site was anything but PG for that matter. Fortunatly there are additional items for grounds of termination so this is not the main issue.

What conserns me now, I did call our DARE officer and working towards a presentation but I have been asked by the Principal to not make this issue the reason why. To address this more of an internet safety talk with discussion of myspace but not the main topic.

guess who turned in the teacher...a student, one of his students. sad....brave, but sad
