Teachers or Parents of Gifted Students

Teachers or Parents of Gifted Students was created by <JLund>
Hello folks!

I am hoping that I come into contact with either a parent or teacher who can offer some insight on a report I am writing for a psych of education class...while I have done my 'book research', I am looking to get some dialogue started with parents of gifted children, or teachers who have gifted children in their classrooms...here are a few things I am studying:

- how do parents and teachers become involved in districts who are experiencing a severe decrease in funding so that students who are gifted continue to be challenged?

- in regards to challenging gifted students, what tends to work the best to satisfy both parents and students? What needs to be done on the teachers/administrations part, and the parents part? Do you believe in 'pull-out programs' where gifted students are placed with other gifted students, or do you think that all students need to be in the same classroom regardless of achievement level?

- If you have been a parent or teacher in a school without a program for gifted students, have you taken part in creating a program? What steps did you take to develop this (or, in your opinion, what do you think would work in today's school system)?

- What do you think has changed the most - in regards to the quality of education for high-achieving students - today vs. 10 years ago?
