PTO president power hungry one person team

Our PTO had an entire executive committee like that for the last few years. You need to get a new President or she will destroy the organization. We had people asking over and over where they could be of assistance and they would never be contacted for any events. At the next meeting we would hear how "they had to do it all themselves". After a while people began to give up (myself included) and then they really did need to do it themselves. We got lucky and a couple of them moved out of the district and the couple that left were then over powered. We have a whole new group this year and we're having a very hard time regaining the trust of the parents and teachers. It's a very slow process and it will take years to fully recover. Don't let yours go that far.

Can your President be voted out at the next Election? If enough people complain then they should vote her out If nobodu else wants the job then maybe the other Board mMembers ccan sit down and talk to her I know that's not easy It takes guts It's almost like an intervention but for the good of the organization maybe she will get the message OR maybe she will read this message board! We had a situation last year where my Co President was very negative and critical to the point of scaring people away When it became apparent that he was about to be voted out he resigned It wasn't pretty but it got rid of the negativity Good Luck!

You'll have to check your bylaws. In our PTO if there is only one person that was nominated for a position, they are it by default and no need to vote.

Our PTO president complains all the time that she is the only one doing anything. (It is not true since I make copies and collect money and etc... ) I am a Parent :Liaiison in my school.

However when parents do offer help she ignores them or as she did at the last meeting asked a teacher if they could do it right in front of the parent. This teacher last year came to maybe 5 meetings.

The first meetings are always a good turn out and she scares them off.It starts with I There is no I in team work.
Parents complain to me.I realized she was never voted in. She just took her spot and kept it.Can she do that? What can I encourage my parent to do?
