Great Principal Relationship

18 years 10 months ago #66197 by pals
Our new principal just started last Monday and it will be awhile before him and I talk. He has so much to get on track with, I am just going to stay open minded and wait. OUr previous principal was great and was a huge part of everything we did...i will miss that! I am confident that it will come around and it is very very important to be on the same team with your principal!

That's great!! Our principal is 70+ and is not in favor of all the parental involvement laws in our state. She talks about having an open door policy but then put a chain and lock on a door and openly stated it was to keep parents out. We had to call the state BOE and the Fire Marshall to have it removed. The sad thing is she did it with the superintendent's blessing. I'm afraid it is going to be a long year.

We absolutely ADORE our principal, as well! She is incredibly supportive of everything we do... in fact, when we chose to have a dunk tank at our carnival last spring, she was the first person to take the plunge (forgive my pun!) I'm lucky to be able to consider my child's principal not only an excellent administrator, but also a friend.

My heart really goes out to those who struggle with principal issues... I just can't imagine NOT getting along with someone who is so critical to our organization's success. To those who do have difficult principals, I'm sending good vibes your way!

The two principals I have had have both been awesome. They have come to every meeting and support everything 100%. The relationship between the parent organization & the principal can make or break you. I know how lucky we have been!

This is my 3rd year on the board of our PTC, second as President. We had a lot of changes at our school this year - 9 teachers retired, a new principal and a whole new PTC board, except myself. In the past we have always met with our Principal on an as needed basis but since we had a new principal this year we started fresh with everything. She has been invited, and comes to, every meeting our board has had and we plan to continue with this. It has been amazing how much we accomplish for planning and ideas for things to happen at the school with her there at our meetings. I'm sure this is out of the norm but it has made such a difference for us. We have 110% backing from our principal and she has it in return from us. Never really realized how much of a difference it could make including the principal right from the get-go!! If it's possible I suggest trying!!
