Teachers attending PTO meetings??

20 years 1 month ago #65116 by pals
learning the ropes...I will tell you our experience with the monthly sign ups. Our principal has tried this for the last two years (we were formed in sept. 2001) and know what. In the 2002-2003 we had five out of ten meetings with a rep. this year we had 4 out of 10. Guess in our experience signing up really doesn't mean much. we send out monthly reminders in our school newsletter, minute flyers, school calendar...our principal also puts reminders in her weekly staff letter...so it isnt from a lack of us trying=) maybe someone out there has a better way? our meetings are at 6:30 so most staff just doesnt want to come back, but we get more parents at this time.

We are supposed to have a Teacher Representative to attend PTO meetings. For the past year we have not had one and the year before, the person didn't come. I was thinking of putting out a calendar of our meetings (once a month) and asking for a different teacher to sign up for each month. What do you think about that?

We have over 20 teachers in our school not counting reading specialists, ESL, etc. So, only 1/3 of them would need to go to a meeting in one school year.
