Free Art Workshops

Our school PTA would look at that type of program under the provision that the Art Company's involvement was limited to providing the materials at no cost, and any "sales" pitching was done "in camera" with only the teachers present.

Corporate involvement in the schools can be a positive thing, as long as steps are taken to prevent their involvement becoming an interactive sales pitch to the kids.

An artist approached me about a new venture she is looking at trying to get into. Need some feedback from other teachers, parents...
Her thoughts: provide FREE art workshops to different schools. She will show new product or old product with new ideas. She would provide all the materials (the materials will be from a sponsoring company that sells to schools). This will help the teachers see a new avenue and help the students meet and artist and see new angles of item in a different way. Why do this ... she would like to get out of Corporate America and work with kids but wants to be on the forefront of new product introductions. She thought by working for an art company why not go to different schools and provide insight to others. The teachers will have a unique day and the students meet an artist an maybe play with a new product line. The art company will gain exposure... Your thoughts?
